Sevastopol is the famous port city of Crimea's western coast. It was practically unknown, because it was a "closed city" until 1997. Sevastopol has a personal sense of chic unrivalled by any other "Russian" city.Bolshaya Morskaya and Nahimova Boulevard prade some classy shops and small pruned gardens surround the hundreds of monuments to generals, soldiers and citizens. All days long, single-file lines of short-haired sailors march back and forth in their ironed uniform and shiny buckles. People here are proud of their beautiful city in spite of the defeats it has suffered.

Walking throught Prospect Nahimova you'll have a good feel of the city you'll be brought to one of the hearts of naval activity. Nahimova Square is "the square" - a roundabout encircling the monument to Admiral Nahimov and around which the parks descend to the waterfront. Down near the waterfront stands the very melancholic memorial to the scuttled ships, a lone pillar resting upon a rocky isle in remembrance of the port's tragic naval defence in Crimean War. In the evening thisi is a popular place for crowds to gather and for strolling couples.

The Sevastopol Aquarium is the oldest in the country, with a good combination of local Black Sea fish exhibits and more exotic collection. The best museum of the city is the Sevastopol Panorama, located at the top of the hill. All visitors of the museum seem to be in the midst of events during the defense of Sevastopol. Another hill top sight is the old St Vladimir's Cathedral. The church is on the hilltop in the city centre. Sevastopol is rich for wonderful beaches. One of the nicer places to swim is Uchkuyevka Beach. The visitors are offered a large number of restaurants, bars, cafes and night clubs and to testify the original drinks, produced in Sevastopol's plants. Besides Sevastopol is famous for its tourists complexes, where every visitor can have an excellent rest.
